Mac OS X Software Update does not know about this (yet?), and neither does the European website. However, Canon's USA and New Zealand sites list 10.6 drivers for the iP4000R. Other printers may have been updated as well. So, for the iP4000R one can now get CUPS driver version 10.26.0.0 (Mac OS X 10.5/10.6). Jan 25, 2011 I have CS3 Suite installed on my iMac 10.6.6. I ran the CS5 Trial of Indesign for a couple weeks. During that time I could not longer access any of my CS3 apps (Illustrator etc.) Trashed the CS5 Indesign, now my CS3 apps crash. Reinstalled the software. All supposedly went fine. Still Crashed. Ran Software updates, some could not update others.

Many printers and scanners use driverless technologies such as AirPrint or IPP Everywhere, which don't require additional drivers on your Mac. But third-party drivers might still be available for older devices that do require a driver. Always check for software updates before connecting the device to your Mac for the first time.
